The most worthless thing that we humans beings do is to
"should" or "should not".
Things are done. Choices have been made, results are showing up. And when they aren't as you envisioned - what happens? Most people will start to use the words "should have" or "shouldn't have" in their sentences and thoughts. If you look carefully, you'll notice
that you can't "should (should not)" or "should (should not) have" about the present moment, only about past and future moments. All
past moments are gone and when you "should or should not have" you are not here in the only moment that counts, the present one - now. You are trying to rewrite the past. "Should"-ing about future moments also disempowers you in the present moment and keeps you trapped in indecision unable to move forward. Like the dog at the foot of the stairs, should I go up?
Shoulds and should nots are only there to support your story about what
you don't like in your present moment. Worse yet, they reinforce the little
lecturing voice in your head that makes you feel small and stuck! You can
never create magnificence in your life when you allow shoulds, should nots, should haves and should not haves to
exist in your thoughts and speaking. Nor can you experience any inner peace.
So make your choice definitively, then look and see where you
are, and whether that choice empowers you or disempowers you as you move towards your goal. If the choice is felt (use your gut and heart here to discern
this - not your mind) as disempowering, then thank it and LEARN from it - but please forget the "shoulds" and "should haves".
It is only in the mind (ego) that "shoulds" can exist,
not the heart. There is nothing positive and "in-flow" that ever comes out of a should or should have. If it only reinforces suffering and egoic thought - then why should - should not anyway?
Make the choice to commit right now to no more "shoulds" or "should
nots" in any tense!
