Cultural Fusion ~ Art As Philosophy

Several months back I met a warm hearted, creative, intelligent woman named Yvette Dubel when she signed up for Money Reiki Healing (http://MoneyReikiHealing.com).   In her sharing I learned about her work and passion which was bringing into reality a concept known as Cultural Fusion.  As I learned from Yvette more about Cultural Fusion, what appealed to me most is that it centers around play and creation expressed as art - I was intrigued.

Cultural Fusion is a way of interacting and expressing through creative exploration and play which shows up in the world as art. It is a way of bridging distance between remote cultures and transcending time and space culminating in the co-creation of one piece of art.  Fascinating!   Cultural Fusion feels to me like an idea whose time is now - so I am sharing it here.  See if you don't agree.   I have summarized the following from a write up from Yvette.  

Cultural Fusion is about co-creating a new reality (in the form of "Installation Art") with others around the globe simultaneously.  Working interactively on one physical/digital-virtual piece together.  Birthing a new expression of form, sound, light and texture that has not existed before this moment.   

Imagine a woman with her 6 year old daughter enters an Installation Art work that appears to be a community park using select recycled and eco-friendly materials. The park is created to be a new interactive art piece.   Interactive how, you ask? Moving through the park the pieces in the sculpture garden respond to them as they walk by with echoes of nature and music. Clues around the garden invite them into a game leading to yet another installation, this time in a Hotel lobby space. Imagine them walking up to a huge 5’ x 10’ flat panel display. The daughter touches it, it flashes, and ripples of colored light dance from her finger and a beautiful “F” musical note emerges. Smiling her mother follows her lead and touches it with her left index finger and a clear “C” note resounds, with emergent, corresponding colored lights and ripples. They both giggle and continue to play Then, on its own, another ring and ripples appear and a “D” note is heard. But this is not from them, this is from a 10 year old orphan girl in Bangkok. Together they create a new piece of music. How is this possible? Technology! Creativity! Financial Support!  And “Cultural Fusion - Art as Philosophy” orchestrating the technology logistics.

Together these people, who have never met in person, are creating a new score of music, and simultaneously a new digital “art” piece that has never before been seen or heard on the planet.  During all this felt and enjoyed experience the final edited creation is recorded forever. Imagine blending the most exciting technologies of the day with our ancestral, most ancient need to express ourselves through Art, Music and Dance.  It is both a game and art as well as so much more.  .

Yvette describes Cultural Fusion:  

The Most Magnificent Bridge – Moving from the Competitive to the Creative.   We’re building a bridge here. From our existing “reality” to the “new world”. One created by our thoughts, feelings, beliefs and imagination. That is how the new world IS being created. Believe it or not. The institutions and businesses that thrive from this point on are able to adapt to this reality. Businesses in the future truly serve people.

Our endeavor here is to Inspire – Imagination! Our task is to bridge a divide between by the illusion of being separate to one of experience and sharing, of being together, creating together and seeing an outpouring of passion, inspiration and creativity.  

More importantly our artwork(s) are not fully formed yet. The nature of Installation Art is that it is incomplete without you, the right venue, audiences, collaborators and sponsors. These transformative works of art call upon the combined energy of our imaginations, the place of pure potential.

How can we, with words, describe a piece of artwork, one that doesn’t exist? It would be like me saying,” oh “Starry Night” by Van Gogh’s it looks like this . . . . “a colorful collage of hydrodynamics of fluid flow, in spirals blah, blah, blah. I’m sorry, it just doesn’t work. First how could one really describe the colors, or images of the swirling stars, or the textures? Much less the feelings it inspires. So how do we build this bridge through Cultural Fusion? What is the “means” to the end? How do we take two apparently opposing realities and bring them together? Through Art. Creativity. Play. Technology. Through bringing people together, physically and virtually. Through engagement in new realms of digital creativity, spontaneity and connectivity to create from the deepest places of the heart - the end result being an important and impactful creation that will travel physically and virtually. It will become a “benchmark” for children in poorer nations who, very likely, have never left their home town or village.  It will open a world to them where...

Cultural Fusion if brought into being as purely as is described above, holds the potential for a new level of self-expression, a new level of interacting and relating with each other, a new level of co-creating as one unified force of being.   It is stepping right now into the dream of the world you desire to see and expressing yourself as art into that dream and having it come to life right before your eyes.

I loved the art work that went with this article I look for artwork on line to see how other artist work . I love to see there input but I see a lot of skulls cross bones and things don't like it . To many of todays artist want everything to be black and white coming from black and white television time I am not a fan of things drawn in black and white either even though I do black and white artwork I prefer color artwork .
